Attracting Tech Talent to the Amsterdam Ecosystem

Facilitating the most prominent scale-ups in the ecosystem with the attraction of highly skilled tech talent, by promoting Amsterdam as “the place to be” for tech talent through a global campaign.

What was/is the challenge?

For tech-oriented startups and actually almost any types of companies it is hard to source highly-qualified, skilled tech talent. Especially in big cities, there is a noticeable lack of programmers and engineers. This means that city governments have to keep working on growing/educating new local experts via collaborations with universities, schools etc, as well as attracting international specialists who are willing to relocate.
Targetting international talent is not an easy task, many factors influence ones decision to immigrate to a different country for work purposes. However, there some steps, which city officials can undertake.

What is the project?

project: a aims to attract the world’s top tech talent – highly skilled developers and data engineers – to join the Amsterdam tech scene. Naturally, applicants must have an acumen for coding or data science – or both, of course.

The programme highlights the Dutch capital’s collaborative ecosystem, showcasing how several tech companies based in the city are teaming up to attract talent.

After the rigorous selection process, the applications will be narrowed down to the top 10 candidates, who will be flown into Amsterdam in May – with flights and accommodation covered. During this time, they’ll get acquainted with the city’s tech scene, attend leading tech conference The Next Web as a special guest and – of course – meet their potential employers.
