On July 26, the City of Munich launched the first Innovation Award, which aims to bring the local public administration and innovative founders and startups together.

Mayor Josef Schmid, head of the Department of Labor and Employment, together with the IT experts, Thomas Bönig, and Claudius Blank, Head of Digitization and Telematics at the Stadtwerke München (SWM), presented the Innovation Award at the Vorhoelzer Forum in Munich. The following companies became the winners, “Holo Light” in the category “Augmented Reality – Digital Information Presentation” and “Teratrace” and “LXElectronics” in the category “Crowd Awareness – Recording the work of the Munich underground system”.

The greater aim of this award is to open the traditional public administration to innovation and give innovative companies and founders an opportunity to further develop and implement new technologies and products within the city. This process will be also supported and curated by the incubation program XPRENEURS of UnternehmerTUM.
