The new creativity and innovation hub in Lisbon that brings together national and international players united by the same values: the best of innovation, creativity and technology. Located in the parish of Beato, HCB is a former industrial complex with 35.000m2 and 20 buildings.

What is/was the challenge?

Cities, entities that are constantly changing, permanently face the challenge of keeping pace with the transformation of societies at different levels. As innovation drivers and network energisers that enhance the development and stimulate the continual modernization of cities, local governments often find it difficult accommodating new concepts, with specific needs and challenges of their own.

On the other hand, the connection between history and contemporaneity, between tradition and innovation, also becomes a burdensome challenge, in regards to existing urban models.Increasingly dynamic and a source of attraction for entrepreneurs and innovative projects, the city of Lisbon raises the question of how to foster and integrate the installation of new, highly innovative, technological and creative concepts that simultaneously enhance growth, development

Increasingly dynamic and a source of attraction for entrepreneurs and innovative projects, the city of Lisbon raises the question of how to foster and integrate the installation of new, highly innovative, technological and creative concepts that simultaneously enhance growth, development and rehabilitation of the city. How to balance the development of the last area of the city of Lisbon to be consolidated, contributing to its social and economic regeneration? How to take advantage of the synergies of events like the Web Summit and dynamize infrastructures that allow permanently retaining the positive effects of this type of events? How to contribute to a perception of Lisbon as a technological, entrepreneurial and creative city, attracting talent and investment with high added value to the city?

What is the project?

Hub Criativo do Beato is then the new creativity and innovation hub in Lisbon, bringing together national and international players united by the same values: the best of innovation, creativity and technology. There are 35,000 m 2 of implementation area in a complex that comprises about 20 buildings from different times.Located

Located in the parish of Beato, the new area under development by the city and the last riverfront of the River Tagus, near the historic centre and only ten minutes from the airport, Hub Criativo do Beato is intended as a contributing project for the urban rehabilitation of the area of Beato and Marvila, supporting the creation of jobs and attracting companies with a focus on innovation and entrepreneurship.

Startup Lisboa, besides being the entity responsible for the development of the HCB concept and project, is the managing entity of the project, in combination with the Lisbon City Hall, and responsible for the implementation and management of all works. Startup Lisboa is responsible for receiving expressions of interest from all companies and/or investors interested in installing their project at HCB, as well as their analysis, selection and start of negotiations.
